Description: The building faces southeast and is a three story limestone clad and concrete structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of Oshkosh, The windows on the second and third stories are a continuous long narrow vertical window. The southeast front has a recessed entrance bordered with designs in the stone trim. The building features massive granite steps and symbolic carvings in limestone that frame a bronze doorway. On the northwest side is an enclosed one story entrance section. In the interior, the rectangular shaped lobby is faced with pale mauve Portuguese marble along with gray colored French marble in the corridors. The floors are stripped with contrasting terrazzo divided by bronze seams. Edges of the plaster ceiling are worked into sharp compound moldings. A bronze compass enclosed by the county name prefaces the stairway. Bronze rail rise along the stairs. The County Circuit Courtrooms on the second story have a variety of wood in birch and rift-sawn oak. The main Circuit Court courtroom has copper-finish birch and American walnut. There are four County Circuit Court courtrooms.The building houses the County Circuit Court of the 4th Judicial Circuit. On the northwest side is the County Administration Building.

History: The county was created in 1840 and Oshkosh was selected as the county seat. The first courthouse was a two story brick structure built in 1860 at a cost of $19,689. An addition was designed by William Waters and constructed in 1909.The second and present courthouse was constructed in 1937 to 1939.
