Description: The building faces west and is a three story gray colored stone structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of Vicksburg and was a Works Project Administration project. The west front has an central entrance on the first story which is framed with stone. The north and south sections project from the main building. The windows are vertical with silver decorated panels between. The roof line is flat.

Description: The building faces east and is a two story gray stone structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of Vicksburg. The building has a large portico on each side supported by six high columns rising to pediments at the roof line. On the center of the roof is an octagonal dome with flat roof. In the interior is the large former courtroom.

History: The county was created in 1809 and Vicksburg was selected as the county seat in 1817 when the county was organized. The first courthouse was built and later burned down in 1857. The second courthouse was constructed in 1858 to 1860 at a cost of $100,000 and is still standing. The third and present courthouse was constructed in 1940 to 1941.
