Queretaro originates from the Tarasco and from the Queretaparazicuyo or Ychahtzicuyo and was abridged to “Queretaro” meaning “game of ball”. There is another version that the name originates from “querendar” which means “place of large stones people or cliffs”.

Description:  The building faces south and is a two story light yellow coloured structure. The building is located on the north side of the Plaza de Armas in the city centre. Known as the Casa de la Corregidora, the building was the home of Dona Josefa Ortiz, the person who informed Ignacio Perez of the plans to arrest the independence conspirators. The Governor’s Conference Room, is where Dona Josefa Ortiz was locked up.

Description:  The building faces east and is a two story yellow colored structure. The building is located in the city center on the west side of the Plaza de Armas. The building houses the Tribunal Superior de Justicia.
